6 Secrets for Always Looking Good and Feeling Your Best

6 Secrets for Always Looking Good

Hey Lovely,

When you dress well, receiving compliments from friends, family, and others feels good. This often happens when I get dressed for errands or attend church or other events. I’ve had comments like, “you always look so nice” or “you need to teach me how to dress.” I usually blush and thank them. It comes naturally, so feel like I don’t put much effort into it. Dressing timelessly and tastefully is really simple to me. I’m now realising however, that what comes easily to me, may not come as easily to another person. This is why I am sharing 6 secrets to always looking good so that you can look and feel good when you step out into the style arena.

Let’s get into it:

  1. Looking at or trying on the clothing item should ignite fireworks within you. It should lift your heart to cloud nine. It should make you say yaaaaasssss! A feeling of confidence should come over you as you envision wearing it for the purpose you bought it.
  2. How can I elevate my look? Always buy nice things. Like. Always. Be extra if you want to be, don’t think of what anyone will think or say. Buy what YOU like. What matters is how YOU feel in your clothes. It’s your style! When you shop this way, you’ll always look good effortlessly, no matter what you pick up to get up and go.
  3. Plan your outfit, and ensure that all pieces look cohesive. Ensure that your colors are complementary and that you have a piece that ties everything together. To elevate your look and add interest, blend different textures of materials and shapes (whether in clothing or accessories) to top it off. Also consider the event, the dress code, the time of day, the weather and the literal landscape, when you are dressing, cause we have some kinds of walkways and sidewalks here.. *side-eye* I’ll talk about cohesiveness more deeply in a future post.
  4. Ensure that your clothing fits well: dress your body for the body you have, not the body you had or want. If you don’t know where to start, figure out your shape (pear, apple, hourglass, athletic), then search for outfit inspiration on websites such as pinterest etc. to get some ideas. Nothing feels worse than ill-fitting, uncomfortable clothing that needs adjusting every few minutes. It’s a ton of work, and you’ll look less than confident if you have to be conscious of your every movement. Always do the 3B check/ boob, back, and booty checks before you leave home to ensure you are comfortable with your outfit. Need I say more?
  5. Before purchasing, Ask yourself, how often can I wear this? Where else can I wear this? Do I have pieces that I can mix and match this with? Can I dress this up and dress it down? Would I want to buy this if it were not on sale? I don’t buy unless I’m 100% satisfied with the answers to these questions. I MUST have at least 3-4 items to mix and match that particular item before I pull the trigger on that checkout button.
  6. Bonus: Whatever you buy, wear it with this; it goes with EVERYTHING! The most essential item to wear is CONFIDENCE. When you wear anything confidently, it makes all the difference. It could be the simplest outfit; a confident attitude elevates every piece of clothing or accessory from head to toe. It is your greatest asset when you get dressed.

If you agree with these points or if you have found this post to be useful, let me know in the comment section. Do you have any other guidelines you follow when you are shopping? Let us know! Much love and light,
