Hey Friend,
Sometimes, life offers us gentle reminders in the simplest moments.
A Simple Road Trip Becomes a Profound Lesson
Just the other day, I was headed to my Aunt’s to pick up some supplies and decided to bring my daughter along. Her excitement could not be contained! She scrambled into her car seat with such joy that even sitting still was a challenge. And in that moment, a little road trip turned into something more.
The Innocent Trust of a Child
I invited my mom to join us, thinking she could use some company. As we drove, my daughter chatted away with my mom. Then my mom asked her, “Do you know where we’re going?” My daughter’s response stopped me in my tracks: “I don’t know, but I’m going with my mommy.” That simple answer held a world of meaning.
It hit me: my daughter didn’t need a plan, a destination, or even an explanation. She felt safe, loved, and secure, just knowing she was with me. There was no anxiety, no second guessing; just trust.
It struck me that my daughter’s simple faith mirrored something deeper. My daughter’s innocent trust reminded me of something profound: the trust we are called to have in our walk with God. Just as she felt safe because she was with me, we, too, can find peace in knowing that no matter where life takes us, we are never alone. We may not always know the plan or understand the path, but our Heavenly Father is with us, guiding each step.
Faith in the Unknown: Lessons from Psalm 23
So often, we take the words of the 23rd Psalm lightly: “The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.” But have we ever truly paused to think about what it means for the Lord to be our Shepherd? A shepherd doesn’t just lead; he protects, provides, and remains watchful. He goes before us, ensuring our safety, pulling us back from danger, leading us to places of rest and refreshment. He stands guard through every valley.
Understanding the Shepherd’s Role in Our Lives
If we take time to understand and meditate upon each line of this Psalm, we begin to see that with God as our Shepherd, we lack nothing. Our fears, anxieties, and worries are soothed in His presence. So whatever we’re facing, we can find assurance in knowing that we are guided, protected, and loved by a Shepherd who never leaves our side. With Him, we are safe, no matter the journey.
Embracing God’s Presence Through Life’s Uncertainties
In the same way that my daughter felt secure and at ease, we, too, can find comfort in God’s presence. Through every unknown, every challenge, and every uncertainty, He is by our side. That’s a promise we can rest in. So, whatever we’re facing, let’s hold onto this truth: we may not see the whole journey, but with Him, we’re exactly where we need to be.
