Hate Your Job? Here Are 25 Truths To Remember.

Hey Lovely,

Have you ever had a job that you absolutely hated? Does even the thought of going to that job make you feel sick? If you are struggling with this, you are not alone. At some point, many people go through this stage in their careers and experience increasing distress because there is no immediate viable solution to this challenge. I’ve had this experience on more than one occasion, at past jobs, where there were times when I did not think I could make it for another week.

During these times, I had to remind myself that other things could be focused on instead of what was wrong with the job. Here are some of them:

If you hate your job, here are some things to remember.

  1. You are blessed.
  2. Be thankful that you have a job that provides for your needs.
  3. Work hard as unto the Lord.
  4. Be content with your lot until you are blessed otherwise.Phil 4:11
  5. Avoid future job idolatry. Jesus is your only Savior.
  6. Find joy in the work or around the work. Be the one to spread happiness.
  7. Be consistent – do your work with excellence.
  8. Become competent and strive to do it masterfully.
  9. Someone else did their job so that you could go to your job and earn a living.
  10. Answer God’s calling in every job that you do.
  11. When you can be trusted with little, you can be trusted with much.
  12. Strive to have a good work ethic because you still represent Christ.
  13. Use scripture to encourage yourself and others. Be prayerful when there is a temptation to slack off.
  14. Invest in relationships with your coworkers.
  15. Use your gifts where you are: encouragement, generosity, creativity.
  16. Pay attention to others’ needs and meet them.
  17. In God’s eyes, how you do your work is important. Your job is important in God’s eyes.
  18. Do your job more mindfully and meaningfully.
  19. Give generously to those in need. Eph 4:28
  20. Work so that other people will respect the way you live. 1 Thes 4:11-12
  21. Your boss trusts you to do your job well. Keep that trust.
  22. Remember: “One who is slack in his work is brother to one who destroys.” Prov 18:9
  23. Every day you show up, you can make someone’s day. Give a smile, a helping hand, or even a simple compliment.
  24. Creating a point of happiness in your space makes the day better! Bring a potted plant or a framed photograph!
  25. Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. Col 3.23

I hope that some of these encouragements resonated with you and helped to put a fresh perspective on your heart. Resolve to practice at least 2 of these suggestions while you are at work this week, and let me know how it went in the comment section below.
